Originally released in 2002 on Double Agent Records, Third Wave heralded the return of The Telescopes after a 10 year hiatus. With Lawrie’s innovative experimentation of computer technology (contemporary at the time) amongst other influences outside of the formal music studio environment, the consequence is an album exquisitely divergent from its predecessors.
19 years later in 2021, Weisskalt Records are delighted to present the long awaited and oft requested Third Wave reissue featuring new album art, another testament to its long abiding resonance and relevance. To this day, The Telescopes remain an enigmatic entity, continually pushing the boundaries of sonic possibility.

“Next year will see The Telescopes’ ‘Third Wave’ celebrate its twentieth birthday. The album still ranks among the cult psych-rock band’s best and boldest work - this is a richly experimental affair that channels the very best of 1970s kosmische in spirit as much as sound, daringly shifting between cerebral valium-psych songs, musique concrete and erstwhile post-industrial experimentalism. ‘Third Wave’ comes off like a midpoint between Can and late-period Einstürzende Neubauten, and it’s more than deserving of this Weisskalt reissue.” — Norman Records

One of the few bands around in which I'll buy every prerelease without even bothering to listen to the taster tune. I love The Telescopes that much. jonezyboy
